Back in the day, this was called the Jazz Age, because since alcohol was banned no one could really go to clubs and have fun, many African Americans or blacks would play jazz music at clubs also know as the Cotton Club.

While blacks in other cities faced race riots, many in Harlem were able to thrive in a supportive community. The Great Migration was created in the Harlem Entertainment

Harlem Renaissance Flappers
Flappers Girls wore their hair loosely on top of their head and wore long straight skirts and a shirt with high collar.
They were feminine but also could brake through several gender barriers for their attire allowed them to participate in sports, including golf, roller skating, and bicycling. | Young women would not date, they waited for a man to pay for their interest which is also called marriage.The flapper attitude was characterized by stark truthfulness, fast living, and sexual behavior. Flappers seemed to cling to youth as if it were to leave them at any moment. They took risks and were reckless.
